The direct path is I-5 north through the Central Valley — roughly 6 to 7 hours of driving depending on traffic — which is the route we take for most moves because it’s the fastest and most predictable. Highway 101 up the coast is longer and slower, but an option when it makes sense.
Because it’s a long-distance move rather than a same-day local one, delivery runs on a window rather than a fixed hour. For a straight run — a dedicated truck going directly from your LA door to your SF door — that’s typically within a few days. We confirm your delivery timing before the move so you can plan the SF end around it.

Moving Into San Francisco
Getting out of LA is the easy half. San Francisco is where this move gets technical, and it’s what separates crews who know the route from crews who don’t.
Hills and parking. SF streets are steep, narrow, and short on parking. A full-size truck often can’t get near a Nob Hill or Russian Hill address, so we plan access in advance — the right vehicle for your street, and a route worked out before moving day rather than discovered on it.
Victorian stairs and walk-ups. Much of the city’s housing is walk-ups — narrow staircases, tight landings, no elevator. Getting a sofa up three flights of a Victorian is a specific skill, and we staff the job accordingly instead of sending two movers and hoping.
Building rules and permits. Many SF buildings require elevator reservations, a certificate of insurance, and set move-in windows, and some streets need a temporary parking permit.
