Junk removal is priced by volume — how much space your items take up in the truck — not by weight or by the hour, and everything comes from where it stands, so stairs and carries don’t change the number after the fact.

Where it ends up matters too. Most of what gets called junk isn’t — a usable dining table is still a dining table. We sort what we collect rather than driving straight to a landfill: furniture and household goods in usable condition go to donation, electronics are handled as e-waste, and metal and cardboard are separated out for recycling. What genuinely can’t be reused goes to disposal last, not first.
