About Moving in Encino

Encino sits in the south-central San Fernando Valley, and Ventura Boulevard splits it in two. North of the boulevard, the land runs flat — big ranch homes on wide lots and mid-rise condos toward the 101. South of it, the streets climb into the Encino Hills, full of gated estates, long private driveways, and view homes reaching toward Mulholland. Those are two different moving jobs, and which one you’re in decides how we crew it. Gentlemen’s Moving handles both with our own trucks and crews, planning the access, the truck size, and the timing around your specific address.

South and North of Ventura Boulevard

Encino divides at the boulevard, and each side is its own kind of move.

South, in the Encino Hills. This is estate country — gated communities off Louise and Amestoy, long private driveways, and view homes climbing toward the reservoir and Mulholland. The streets here weren’t built for a full-size truck: narrow switchbacks, steep drives, and often nowhere to turn around. We check the approach before your date and bring a truck sized for the hill, and where a gated community needs advance notice, a name at the guard gate, or has a height limit on the entry arch, we sort it ahead of time rather than getting turned away on the day. These are bigger homes with more to move, so crew size is planned for the volume.

North, on the flats. The wide ranch lots and mid-rise condos toward Balboa and the 101 are a different job. Condo and apartment buildings come with their own rules — reserved elevators, a certificate of insurance the HOA wants on file, and move windows that often exclude weekends. We coordinate those ahead so nothing stalls at the loading dock. Tell us the address when you book and we bring the right truck and crew for that side of Encino.

Ranch Homes, Estates, and Specialty Pieces

Encino is full of 1950s and ’60s ranch homes, and they hide a specific challenge: interior doorways built narrow, often 28 to 30 inches, that a modern sectional sofa, a king bed, or an oversized refrigerator won’t clear. Our crews disassemble those pieces properly and reassemble them at the destination rather than forcing anything through a doorframe and scarring both. The older Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean homes need their own care too, particularly around brittle original clay-tile roofing where ladders and overhead clearances matter.

The estates south of the boulevard tend to hold furniture and art worth extra attention. Pianos, antiques, framed pieces, and mirrors are wrapped and handled by crews trained for them, with our trucks’ hydraulic liftgates and ramps doing the heavy work rather than the crew wrestling it. Mention specialty items at booking so the right equipment and crew size come along, and if you’d rather not pack, our packing service covers the whole home or just the delicate rooms.

Valley Heat and Storing Your Belongings

One thing that catches people out in Encino: the Valley gets hot. Summer temperatures regularly push past 100°F, and that’s hard on anything stored in an ordinary unit — wood furniture can warp, and electronics and other sensitive items don’t love the heat either. It’s worth thinking about if you’re storing between homes over a summer.

If your move-out and move-in dates don’t line up, storage in transit holds your belongings in our facility until you’re ready, and long-term storage covers longer gaps like a renovation. We wrap and pad furniture properly before it goes into storage, which matters more the longer it sits. Anything you decide isn’t worth keeping can go through junk removal before we load, so you’re not paying to store it.

What a Move Costs in Encino

Local moves in Encino are billed by the hour. Your total depends on the size of the crew and how long the move takes, with a minimum number of hours. The property itself can also affect the amount of time the crew needs:

  • Hillside estates — steep gated driveways, long carries from where the truck can park, and bigger homes with more to move
  • Ranch homes — narrow doorways mean more disassembly and reassembly
  • Condos and apartments — elevator reservations, waits, and HOA loading rules
  • Specialty items — pianos, art, and antiques that need extra crew and care

Whatever the conditions, the price we quote is the price you pay — no service charge, gas fee, truck fee, stairs fee, or surprise long-carry charge at the end. For general pricing, see our rates page.

Moving Beyond Encino

Some Encino moves are short trips across Los Angeles, while others take customers across California or to another state. For long-distance moves we use our own trucks and CDL drivers — no brokers handing your belongings off along the way.

If you have a few days between leaving one home and getting the keys to the next, storage in transit can bridge the gap. For longer transitions, we also offer long-term storage. And if you’ve already arranged the truck or container, our crews can help load it by the hour.

Encino Moving — Questions We Get

Yes, it’s routine here. We check the approach and driveway before the day, bring a truck sized for the hill streets, and sort out gate check-in, height limits, and advance notice with the community ahead of time.

Often it won’t fit as-is — Encino’s 1950s-60s ranch homes have narrow interior doors. We disassemble sectionals, king beds, and oversized pieces and reassemble them at the new place rather than forcing anything through.

We coordinate both with building management ahead of the move date, so nothing stalls at the dock. Give us the management contact when you book.

Valley summers get hot, which is hard on wood furniture and electronics in an ordinary unit. We wrap and pad everything properly for storage and can talk through options when you book.

Yes, with proper equipment and advance notice. Our trucks have hydraulic liftgates and ramps for heavy pieces. Mention specialty items at booking.

We base the cost of a local move on the crew size and the time required. Furniture disassembly and reassembly are included, and we provide the price before the work starts.
