Moving from Los Angeles to Reno means crossing the Sierra, and in winter that scares off crews who don’t know the passes. We plan the mountain crossing around the weather, run it with our own trucks, and quote you one flat price before you book.
Reno isn’t the Reno it used to be. Tech money, Nevada’s tax setup, and people priced out of California cities have turned it into a real destination, and the LA to Reno move is one we run regularly. It’s about 470 miles north, a proper long-distance haul, and we take care of all of it with our own crews and trucks. We load in LA, make the drive, and unload in Reno, with the same team on both ends so nobody hands your things off along the way.

This is the longest of our regular Northern runs, around 470 miles, usually up the I-5 and then east over the Sierra Nevada into Reno. That mountain stretch is what makes this route different from a flat run to Vegas: in winter the Sierra passes get snow, chain controls, and the occasional closure, so the timing is something we actively plan around rather than assume.
We watch the forecast and schedule the crossing instead of getting caught out on the grade. In summer it’s a straightforward drive; in winter we build in a little room for the mountains. Delivery runs on a window rather than a set hour, and we confirm your timing before the move so you can plan the Reno end.

A to Z Packing
A long-distance move is quoted on how much you’re moving and how far, plus packing and the access at both ends, not by the hour.
The distance here is on the longer side for a regional move, and home size is still the biggest factor in the price. We don’t quote blind over the phone. We go through your inventory first, then give you a flat price that holds, with nothing added once the truck reaches Reno.
Pack yourself instead of adding full packing to bring it down, and leave behind what you don’t want to haul 470 miles. For general pricing, see our rates page.
Upfront pricing, licensed crews, your own team start to finish
A lot of people make this move for the same reasons: no state income tax, housing that beats California prices, and the Sierra and Lake Tahoe on the doorstep. Where you land shapes the job. Reno and Sparks have grown fast around the tech and warehouse boom out at the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center, so a good share of this route is job relocations with dates to hit.
Newer master-planned and gated communities in South Reno and Sparks want a name at the gate and may set move hours. Older homes near Midtown and downtown can mean tighter streets and access, and places up toward the foothills come with grades and driveways we plan the truck around. Tell us where you’re headed when you book and we sort it ahead of the day.
An LA to Reno move covers the whole job: furniture apart and back together, wrapping and padding, loading, the drive, and placing everything room by room at the Reno end. Pianos, antiques, and fragile pieces go to crews who handle them regularly. Add packing if you’d rather not box things yourself.
We run other routes out of LA too, from Sacramento and San Francisco to Las Vegas, San Jose, and Phoenix. See all destinations.

That’s the part of this route we plan hardest. The Sierra passes get snow and chain controls in winter, so we watch conditions and build a little room into the timing rather than getting stuck on the grade.
The drive is about 470 miles, the longest of our regular Northern routes, up the I-5 and over the Sierra. Delivery runs on a window, and we confirm your timing before we start.
It depends on how much you’re moving and the services you need, not an hourly rate. Home size is the biggest factor. You get a flat price upfront once we’ve gone through your inventory, with nothing added at delivery.
